Kappa's are mischievous Japanese folk spirits that live in rivers and play jokes. When Kanako returns home in disgrace, her grandmother takes her in and makes her the caretaker of their tiny village's kappa. But something is wrong with the local kappa...a secret cell of WW II scientists is trying to turn it into an amphibious weapon. One atom bomb later, Japan is under attack by giant monsters.
